Hopefully brief update change
Posted by Indigo
Work is killing me, but the summer is always full of stuff to be done. In this case, that includes overtime at the mundane job.
So effective until at least Labor Day, Kismetropolis will update on Wednesday only.
If I can squeak in more pages, I will.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for understanding.

Just doing a little tuning up on the page. I feel like I've spent too much time with HTML Barbie. "Coding is hard!"
In any case, new donation wallpaper should be up in a day or two.

Collector Times

A friend of mine was writing an article tributing the late Steve Gerber, creator of Howard The Duck. He requested I do an image of a sad Howard to go with it, which I was happy to do for him. To my friend's surprise [and mine!], editor Sheryl Roberts decided to use it as the cover image. You can see it here.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope you have someone to lavish love on. If not, webcomic creators never get enough love.
Let a webcomic artist you know you enjoy their work.

The Ups and Downs of the Past Two Weeks
Posted by Indigo
Last week, I had a hellish work week and an old injury flared up giving me grief.
I have this week's pages pencilled, but the scanner has decided it and the computer are no longer on speaking terms.
I'm trying to get the registry sorted out, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to roll back a week. If that doesn't do it, I'm probably going to scream and cry.
I can't promise a page on time tonight, but I'll get them up soon as I get the problem solved.
My apologies and thanks for sticking with me.
UPDATE: 11:00 pm Tuesday -- I persevered because I didn't feel like screaming and crying. I've got the scanner online again, but it's too late for me to do anything about it tonight. Work in the morning. I'll have the page up tomorrow night, and Friday's on Saturday.

Good Luck, Mookie.
Posted by Indigo
Michael "Mookie" Terracciano of Dominic Deegan is undertaking a challenging time in his life just now. It's going to be hard on him, and stressful, and I just wanted to say if you read his comic, he probably could use your good thoughts. And if you don't read his comic, it's a lot of fun -- consider adding one to your webcomic readlist.
Hang in there, Mookie.

Creativity does not equal Terrorism.
Posted by Indigo
...although here in the USA, it is starting to.
Unfortunately, this is a highly appropriate topic for Webcomic Awareness Day.
Matt Boyd, of Mac Hall and Three Panel Soul was fired from his job working under government contract. A coworker overheard him discussing the purchase of target practice paper for rifle shooting, around the same time as the Virginia Tech shootings. Said coworker reported it, and they fired him on the spot without so much as the chance to clean out his desk or, apparently, the chance to explain himself.
So Matt chronicled his experience about it here.
It gets worse.
Some of his former coworkers found the comics, and called them in as a threat. Matt was visited by four police detectives at his home. The coworkers also claimed the woman pictured in comic #21 resembled one of them, apparently unaware that Matt does not create the art for the strip. The comics were called a borderline terroristic threat.
The story is here.
Digg this!
I can't even get into how infuriating this is.

This kind of stuff confuses me as much as it angers me. I know it's been going around for awhile but it shouldn't be old news until it stops.

Trouble in Cyberspace

As of this writing, no one I know can reach LiveJournal or MySpace. I could get to LJ from the client so the updates will hit at the right time. No such luck for MySpace, so please bear with me if you watch for Kismetropolis there.

One: Thanks to Shay for the help with the site redesign. I think it's a little easier to navigate and a lot prettier to look at.
Two: You will notice at the navbar on top, under the logo, there is now a link to my Spreadshirt store. Please feel free to browse, buy, and make suggestions.
